Sciatica is something of a generic explanation for pain that originates in one of the longest nerves in the body with a mostly sensory component. Because it is such a long nerve, clinicians can jump to conclusions as to the origin of nerve ‘entrapment’ which might be anywhere from the lower back to the foot. .
The language used to explain sciatica is often confusing and this type of pain can also sometimes be confused with femoral nerve pain. Being clear in diagnosis and communication can be very helpful in terms of advice given to clients and determining treatment and rehabilitation options. In this webinar John Wilks will outline some simple markers for assessing the origin of sciatic pain and discuss treatment options.
